My love for travelling stems from my childhood. Growing up, my parents would take my siblings and i somewhere new every other summer and winter. The thrill of packing up our suitcases and immersing ourselves into a whole new location, culture and atmosphere was so exciting.
Since migrating to Canada, we stopped travelling as much for a few years. I didn’t mind because we had just moved our whole life to a new country that was once an option for a vacation spot. It was a dream come true to be honest. The past three years however, i made the decision to start travelling again and make it a priority in my life. As much as i loved my new vacation life (lol), i felt there was still so much to see in this world.
I went on a trip for my birthday in 2016 with one of my girlfriends, and all the feels from my childhood came rushing back. I loved it. The anticipation and anxiousness the days before, putting together an itinerary, and shopping for outfits that match the vibe of each location. Ever since that trip, I’ve become committed to seeing the world.

So why do i say travelling is essential ?
- It is a great stress reliever: I’ve found that simply breaking your routine and being in a new location can really help you relax and rejuvenate. Something we all need to do every once in a while. You’re able to disconnect and learn about yourself. Listen to the calm waves, feel the warmth of the sun. These are the little things we don’t appreciate in our busy lives.

- It encourages Self Growth: Vacations are a great time to sit back, reflect on your life, revisit your goals, and set new ones. Your mind is not all over the place thinking of things that need to be done at work or school. You’re able to focus on one thing and be in the moment. You also become more open minded as you embrace the difference in culture and traditions. Enabling you to be more understanding and accepting of others.
- It is the best source of inspiration: i’ve found that whenever i go on a trip, i get an influx of ideas. Ideas on things i want to do with my life, or things i could write about or film. This ties back to the first point of stress relieving. As a society, i believe we underestimate how much power stress and anxiety can have over our lives if we allow it to. It can be crippling. Meeting new people on vacation and listening to their experiences on various things (including things i felt i had a lot of knowledge on), inspires me.

- Traveling invokes Gratitude within us: sitting back and taking in the beautiful view and scenery, you realize how blessed you are. No matter how long or short, expensive or cheap the trip is, simply being able to pack your bags and go to a new location, and be at peace is a blessing.
I say travelling is essential, but let’s be realistic. We can’t just hop on a flight and disappear for a few days or weeks every single time we feel stressed. This is why short weekend trips or staycations exist. Travelling doesn’t have to be to the most luxurious far away island in the middle of the Atlantic. Drive or take a train to a new city or check into a hotel in your city, relax and just BREATHE.
I plan on making a video or post about how i plan my vacations (budget, savings, best sites to use, etc.). Let me know if this is something any of you would be interested in. Have a Blessed week!
