Letting go is something i have struggled with for many years. I’ve been making conscious effort, this year especially, to move past a lot of things, forgive more, and release myself from the mental imprisonment of past decisions and regrets. I find that a lot of times I constantly remind myself, and replay in my head all the ways a situation could have gone differently, instead of simply learning from it, trying something new, and doing better next time.
It definitely takes a level of psychological and spiritual maturity to understand that letting go, forgiving and moving forward not only allows you grow as a person, but also frees your spirit. You become at peace with and within yourself.

Holding grudges or holding on to the past really and truly stifles your growth and blessings. It can make your life miserable because it becomes a weight that holds you down. Remember that hurting people hurt people, intentionally and unintentionally. I’m learning to walk away from situations that in any way, shape or form, attempt to alter or shift the peace in my life. I’m learning to forgive more especially when I’ve been wronged, and also forgive myself for decisions in which I feel like I let myself down.

When I think about letting go, i remember sunsets and what they symbolize. Sunsets are a reminder of a new day ahead, a new beginning. Regardless of what occurred during the day, it concludes no matter what. Before a new day arises however, there’s hours of pure darkness. I see this darkness as a period of renewal, healing, learning and preparation of our souls for what’s to come. Now it’s up to us how long this period of darkness lasts, and how ready we are for the break of a new dawn in our lives. Holding on to whatever happened the previous day or even the previous year or years prolongs this dark period, and this is where the devil creeps in to steal our hope for a new day ahead.
Moving on, casting our worries to God and letting go is the best decision we can make during dark times of our lives. It can be very difficult, and even uncomfortable especially if the dark period has become all we know. But we NEED to remember Gods promise of the sunset, that a New day is ahead if we can just let go and press forward. learn from whatever the situation is and never lose love and hope. Dark times are inevitable in life but we cannot let it become our story.

Things change, people come and go, and seasons change. But have you taken a second to notice how beautiful the transition between night to day is? Or even the transition from winter to spring? Be like the trees in fall/autumn, not afraid to let go of their leaves. As long as their roots stay planted and watered, they know in a short while they will blossom again. Plant your roots in God and water your soul with His word, and watch how beautiful your life will continue to be.

I’ve been seeking God’s help with this, and I know for sure He wants me to press forward and move past the past. Every podcast, sermon, or random post I come across on social media, keep reiterating the same message – Let go! And so I know for sure this is my word for the season, and I feel someone else might need to hear it to. Learn to let go, and let God. Every new day is a new beginning.
